I also love the whole Rudy Jude lifestyle Instagram beauty and DIYness and share her stories of her children with my friends with kids the same age - our kids could never use an axe like Rui, nor would we let them. There’s something both inspiring and terrifying about their skills. Another thing I like about my interpretation of Julie is that she owns so many beautiful and expensive clothes but I don’t think she’s wealthy enough to afford them (I mean what do I know but that’s the impression) - they live in a tiny house they built themselves on family owned property - and I get the feeling she gets most of her stuff from trades with her own brand of clothing. This makes her seem all the more resourceful yet still inaccessible, as I don’t have friends who make this stuff nor stuff I could trade for it.
Until just now when you did a little teaser of this story for the unpaid subscribers, I hadn't heard of Rudy Jude. While my 2.5 year old was climbing on me and my 4 year old was pooping, I looked through her insta account for a few minutes and said aloud a few times to the 2.5 year old "who are these people??"

Ok-wow the timing of this, as I've been obsessing over RJ's gram for the past couple of months. I'm simultaneously appalled and envious of her life.... it's weird to admit that... and I keep wondering too if the smugness is also coolness as in aloofness- a trait I associate with Main and the NE in general. The other day I was taken aback by her posting her Bright Stars inspired blouse- ya know just whipped up this blouse from scratch and I kept wondering- where are her children? I was kinda hoping maybe you'd dig a bit deeper in her content creation, b/c there's a whole lot of privilege undermining her whole aesthetic, not to mention the brand.... sigh.. I don't know why pages like this are so infuriating....oh b/c she's not grappling with things like systemic oppression, class consciousness, and anti-racism...
